Welcome! I’m Dr. Jaime Lewis.
I’m a dual board physician in palliative care and lifestyle medicine and certified yoga therapist in Chicago, IL.

I help people who are living with daily pain, chronic stress, and serious illness, to integrate well-rounded and healthful lifestyle routines into their day, that have been proven to reduce pain, improve physical mobility, lessen mental stress, and enhance overall quality of life.

I have been working in palliative medicine for over 13 years and cared for many patients who struggled with the physical, mental, and emotional burdens that come from serious illness.
Pain from an illness, side effects from a treatment, and overwhelm with trying to manage multiple medications and a variety of medical appointments. They would come to clinic not just needing relief from physical symptoms but also relief from just trying to manage it all.

“Is there something I can do to help my pain, that’s not a pill?”

“What can I do on my own to feel better?”

“I’m tired of having to take all of these pills.”

As more patients asked me for non-pill ways to feel better, I became motivated to adapt and expand how I care for patients- in ways that they are actually seeking.

Now I am excited to offer a different kind of practice, where the scientific research of lifestyle change, the traditional philosophy of palliative care, and the modern field of yoga therapy, all come together to help you relieve suffering, restore balance, and enhance life.

If this resonates with you, I hope you’ll take the step and work with me.

Be well,

Jaime Lewis, MD

    Lifestyle Focused Palliative Care

Palliative medicine is a medical field focused on improving the quality of life of people living with chronic or serious illnesses.

Palliative care was originally designed to help people feel better in body, mind, and spirit, and to support patients and their families in their search for meaning throughout the course of illness.

Lifestyle medicine utilizes intensive lifestyle changes in eating patterns, exercise and movement, sleep quality, and stress management to reduce symptom burden, improve chronic health conditions, and overall enhance quality of life.

“Jaime and her yoga therapy practice supported me mentally and physically through recovery from ACL surgery and challenging life transitions. Her patience, adaptability, and attention to detail related to my physical therapy exercises and weekly emotional needs made the entire recovery process more integrated and comprehensive. Jaime, through yoga therapy, taught me the physical, emotional, and spiritual connection that is crucial for healing. Her treatment plan gave me daily habits that I still use today to support my overall wellness, including self massage and diet. It was neat to apply my own spiritual practices and love of astrology to the concepts we discussed in our yoga therapy work. I loved having a practitioner who could cater and adapt to my interests, it all felt more easily applied as a result. I highly recommend incorporating movement and total body awareness into your healing journey, especially with Jaime!”

“I am still using the guidelines Jaime shared with me during and following my private zoom therapy sessions. Each session was focused on my needs and ways to increase my flexibility, increase my endurance and strengthen my body today and in the days ahead. I firmly believe the strategies Jaime taught are keeping me engaged with life, in a mobile and flexible way at age 75. These same exercises will keep me going all the years God allows me to live. I wish I had known a Professional Yoga Therapist in my youthful days.”

“Jaime is truly the best! Supportive, knowledgeable, and patient. Her warm and calming presence and her skill as a yoga therapist have given me a new sense of attunement with my mind and body. Yoga therapy is exactly what I didn't know was missing in my life. I have learned more about my mind and body in the time I've been working with Jaime than in the past year of trying to get to the bottom of things by myself. Yoga therapy helped build my confidence, spiritually and physically. I highly recommend anyone with a curiosity about yoga therapy to give it a try!”

“I participated in restorative yoga with Jaime Lewis and found it to be transformative for my spirit and soul. She has a unique lens of understanding the body physiologically with her MD training but more importantly, intuitively figures out and masters the intricate map of each individual’s body. She “nourishes and nurtures” our connection to our body to promote healing. Jaime has a gift, and I am grateful that she is sharing it with all of us.”
